Create and fill in a measure

To save a measure, click on the orange plus button in the middle of the navigation bar. There you now have the option to select whether you want to start a measure directly or create a follow-up entry.

HINT: A measure is a plan of action directed toward the future with the goal of achieving an effective financial effect.

Title of the measure

The title of the measure should match the following formula: object plus action (e.g. make packaging for product XY thinner) so that the title itself makes it clear to other users what the topic is.

If you are using a smartphone, it is best to save your ideas for actions directly in your Valuedesk with a photo (press + to do this).

HINT: Measures are initially only visible to you personally. However, you can add colleagues to the measure as editors or viewers at any time.

Store specifications on the left side of a measure

Fill in the fields with the necessary information you know. If you are missing information, involve your colleagues in the measures to add important basic information to the measure. The most common fields are described below.

HINT: Differences in the software configuration may exist. Therefore, fewer or more fields may have been defined for your company.

  • "Description" - The specification of the measure first requires a detailed description. It should be as precise as possible to avoid subsequent misunderstandings among colleagues involved in this measure.
  • "Relevant links" - Deposit here any links (e.g. from internal folders and files, other tools or websites) that are important for describing the measures in more detail or supporting the potential estimate.
  • "Generated by" - Select here the company, location and/or department through which the measures originated and were generated. Independent of which area is responsible for and will implement the measure, it is possible to record who is the source of the measures. In this way, it can also be evaluated afterwards which areas proactively carry new measures into the company. Only one option can be selected here.
  • "Responsible by" - Select the company, location and/or department that is responsible for processing the measure here. In most cases, this is the company, location and/or department that is also the most suitable in terms of content. This clear assignment also helps to identify how busy an area with how many measures is. In most cases, it is also advisable to assign the responsibility for measures to a person at this company, location and/or department. Only one option can be selected here.
  • "Involved areas" - In this field, enter all other internal companies and departments that are affected by the measures. This gives you and the other people a direct estimate of how many areas are involved and with whom communication is required. Many areas often means a higher coordination effort. At the same time, you can also filter by your department and see in which measures your department is already involved or will be soon.
  • "Keywords" - Feel free to deposit suitable keywords. So you can later filter by them and see collected, which measures there are all to this keyword.
  • "Prioritization" - Create a prioritization of your measures for yourself and your department. In this way, you ensure that it is clearly defined for everyone which measures must always be safe to be implemented.
  • "Fields of action" - The measures can be assigned to one of the 8 fields of action. The correct field of action is selected by the origin or the perspective that one has on a problem. Example: "Reduction of product variants and increase of order quantities of standard material to reduce purchasing costs". This measure can, for example, originate in the material price field of action or in the product cost field of action. Fields of action are always interdisciplinary and are addressed by several areas. This means that at a high level, it is possible to quickly identify the fields of action in which you are active and those in which you have not yet been active.
  • "Method" - A method provides the conceptual basis for an assignment to make the processes measurable and classifiable. In Valuedesk, the method "decodes" the measures or post-recording and thus makes them comparable. The accumulated knowledge that results from the implementation is made understandable and available to everyone. Overarching this is a series of 8 method types that make it easier to find the right method.
  • "Material group" - Classify the content of your measure in the material group structure of your company in order to obtain information about how successful you have been in which material groups and, if necessary, with which method or field of action. Likewise, you can derive insights where you have not yet been so active. The selection can be made at any level of the tree structure.
  • "Suppliers (current and new)" - Who is our current partner and who will they be once we have implemented the measures? Add this information to the measure.

HINT: Required fields are marked with an * (asterisk). The measure can only be completed at the end if these fields are filled in. However, we recommend that you provide this information as early as possible to give others more insight into the measure.
