What is a process? - Measure and post-capture explained

In the Value Management System, Valuedesk differentiates between post-captures and measures. Both types of capturing are summarized as a process.

What is a process?

At Valuedesk you have the option of creating a post-capture or a measure. The word “process” summarizes both types of recording.

Post-captures are suitable for recording active savings potential.

With measures you can capture potential savings that will only be realized in the future.

What is a post-capture?

Post-captures serve to subsequently document realized results. At the time of recording, the effectiveness has already been decided and scheduled.

NOTE: Results from telephone price negotiations with partners, savings from previous projects are subsequent recordings.

Show what savings you have realized.

If you have already realized savings and want to document them subsequently, we recommend subsequent recording.
  1. Click on "+ Create" in the navigation.
  2. Select "Capture result”.
  3. Enter a meaningful title.
  4. Confirm your entry by clicking on the “Capture result” button.

TIP: Pay attention to the visibility status of your subsequent entry. Who can see and edit my measure? You can find the corresponding settings in the top right corner (see Visibility).

What is a measure?

A measure is a plan of action directed toward the future with the goal of achieving an effective financial effect.

In doing so, you plan activities from today's perspective and with today's experience, assign responsibilities and work actively on the measure. The amount of savings that can actually be realized can often only be assessed after the fact. You can find out how to deal with an initial estimate of savings here: Potential Estimation.

NOTE: Use a measure if you are planning savings by changing your processes, products, strategy, negotiations, and so on.

A change in packaging requires a decision and should therefore be recorded as a measure.

TIP: If a decision is required, it is a measure if not, it is a post-capture.

To start a measure, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on "+" in the navigation bar
  2. Select "Start measure" (preselection)
  3. Enter a meaningful title
  4. Confirm the input by clicking the "Start measure" button

A measure is divided into 5 levels (Potential Estimation, Decision, Implementation, Potential Confirmation, Confirmation of Effectiveness). If all levels are completed, it is a completed measure.

HINT: Pay attention to the visibility status of your measure. Who can see and edit my measure? You can find the corresponding settings in the top right corner (see visibility)
